INTERNATIONAL STUDENT REFUND POLICY

This Refund Policy applies to the Course fees for a particular course paid on enrolment by the Overseas Student. The International School of Beauty Therapy (ISBT) is also a member of an Overseas Student Tuition Assurance Scheme (OSTAS) pursuant to the ESOS, run by the Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET) to ensure the protection of International Student fees.

Fees paid on enrolment will include the Registration Fee, half of the Course fees for courses over six months duration, or the full course fee for courses of six months or less duration, plus the Overseas Student Health Cover fee (OSHC) if the Student wishes ISBT to arrange Health cover. Health cover for the full length of the visa is mandatory.

Second and any subsequent semester tuition fees must be paid 10 weeks before the commencement of the semester. Semester length is 22.5 weeks. Each study period will equal one semester, which equates to approximately six months of study.

1      OSHC fees will only be refunded if ISBT has not already paid the fee to the Insurance Company. If the fees have been paid to the Insurance Company, the Refund will be at the discretion of the Insurance Company.

2     If the Students application for a Student Visa is unsuccessful, there would be a full refund of course fees less $250.00 for administration expenses.

3     If ISBT withdraws the offer of a place on a particular course or cancels the course before the semester commences, there would be a full refund of any fees paid to ISBT.

4     If ISBT withdraws the offer of a place on a particular course or cancels the course after the commencement of the semester, the student will be offered a full refund of all fees paid from the commencement of the course, or have the option of being placed in a comparable course. If the student is accepted into another course then any fees remaining for the original course will be credited to the new course.

5     If a student withdraws more than 10 weeks before the commencement of the course, there would be a full refund less $250.00 for administration expenses.

6     If a student withdraws more than 4 weeks and up to 10 weeks before the commencement of the course, the refund would be 75% of the semester fees less $250.00 for administration expenses.

7     If a student withdraws 4weeks or less before the commencement of the course, or semester, the refund would be 50% of the semester fees less $250.00 for administration expenses.

8     If a student withdraws within 4weeks of the commencement of the course, or semester, the refund would be 30% of the semester fees less $250.00 for administration expenses.

9     If a student withdraws after the fourth week of the commencement of the course or semester, there would be no refund of the semester fees allowable, except for exceptional circumstances eg Medical, Family or personal hardship.

10  If ISBT withdraws a student from a particular course after the commencement of the semester because the student has seriously breached International Student Visa conditions or the Rules & Regulations of ISBT, there would be no refund of the semester fees and only 50% of the fees applicable to a subsequent semester, less $250.00 for administration expenses.

11  For courses of 10 weeks or less duration there would be no refund if the student withdraws 4 weeks or less before the commencement of the course or at any time after the commencement of the course.

12  If a student withdraws from any course after the commencement of the course, for Medical reasons, Family reasons or personal hardship, the fees would be refunded on a pro-rata basis. If the student returned within 6 months to complete the course, only the fees applicable to the uncompleted part of the course would be charged.

13  If a student wishes to change enrolment to another course delivered concurrently   by ISBT, the fees paid will be credited to the new course less an administration fee of $150.00.

14  In the case of ISBT cancelling the course before commencement of the course, the student has the option of receiving a full refund or a transfer of the funds to another  course.

15  To claim a refund the student must complete a Refund Claim Form available from the School office. Claims will be dealt with within 5 working days of the lodgement of the claim. Any refunds due to the student will be paid into the students bank account. There will be no cash transactions nor will the refund be paid to a third party. The refund will be calculated from the date of termination of the enrolment. Any refunds due will be paid within five working days of ISBT agreeing to the refund.

16  This agreement does not remove the right of the student to take further action under Australian Consumer Protection Laws.               

If ISBT is unable to provide a refund or place the student in an alternative course the Tuition Assurance Scheme (TAS) ACPET – OSTAS will place the student in a suitable alternative course at no extra cost to the student.

 

If the ACPET – OSTAS cannot place the student in a suitable alternative course, the ESOS Assurance Fund Manager will attempt to place the student in a suitable alternative course or, if this is not possible, the student will be eligible for a refund as calculated by the Fund Manager.
